With summer just about here, there are so many things on our to do list such as planning sumer break, getting a head start on summer cleaning and then some but what about some self improvement? No matter the time of year everyone can use a little TLC and a summer makeover might be just what you need. If you are a hair fanatic then surely you are getting to the point of been there, done that when it comes to your hair but, ask yourself, what have you tried and what have you mastered? If you find yourself answering none in the mastered category then you’re in luck as I have for you five hairstyles you need to master this season.
This look has been seen up and down the runways and even the red carpet which is understandable as the fishtail braid is an excellent hairstyle for a beautiful yet effortless look. The braid isn’t just designated to throw over your shoulder like arm candy as it can be used a decorative braid at the side of the head or even wrapped around a messy bun. Even shorter coifs can indulge in a little fishtail braid as it is a great way to keep your fringe out of your face
An advanced version of the fishtail but when you get this look mastered you will surely look like a pro to all of your friends and asking why haven’t you enrolled in cosmetology school. There are dozens of ways to incorporate the waterfall braid into your look which makes it a great style to master. Though the waterfall braid is close to that of the fishtail, unlike the former, it is best suited for longer hair as it is typically styled in the back of the hair and cascades down, hence the name, waterfall.
The Chignon bun is a look that nearly every actress has worn at least once and of course in a multitude of ways. The look can be done in a messy, wind tasseled look or nice and sleek which can often be seen on the runway. In fact, Gucci is known for their use of the Chignon with a fan like wingtip that extends from the bun. Depending on the occasion you can make the look an up-do for work or dinner or a low styled bun appropriate for an outing or school. Throw a braid or two into the hairstyle to make it your own or couple the pseudo messy coif with a few hair clips.
It’s never too early to get ready for summer especially with summer just around the corner. Beach waves is a popular look and it can be obtained through curling iron, letting your hair air dry after washing it and even a diffuser. However, for a more authentic and no heat necessary beach wave, try the braid out method. Simply section your hair out as desired and braid it, be sure to allow sufficient amount of time between setting the braids and taking them out. The longer you keep them in the greater chance your beach waves will be longer lasting and more defined. The main thing to master with this look is how to keep your waves tame and the frizz gone. So be sure to do some research on anti-frizz products and of course knowing your hair type and what works for it.
Top Knot with French Braid
Add some extra sophistication to your look this summer with this stylish do that boasts an inverted French braid that ends up at the top of your head instead of at the base of your neck or down your back. Though it might look simple, it is surely going to be filled with trial and error as you to try to master this hair style in one go as you have to braid upwards instead of downward. However, once you get it down pat you will be glad you did.
Though I’ve only touched on five, there are so many more hair styles that are out there to master which means I might not have touched upon the one you like the most. So tell me, what hair style are you going to master this summer? This post was originally published on Polished
